DJ MacKinnon – Poker Night Classic Event 17 Champion

Throughout his career, DJ MacKinnon has recorded 137 rated tournament scores totaling just under $630,000 in combined earnings. Those results range from big buy-in World Poker Tour and World Series of Poker events to smaller buy-in regionally based events. Sticking to that geographical theme, his tournament resume includes cashes in local events to tournament scores and deep runs across North America.

From the Bahamas, to Canada, Florida, Iowa, Mississippi, back home to New York and Connecticut and the back across the country to Las Vegas and Oklahoma, there might not be a major tournament stop where MacKinnon hasn’t staked his claim. Throughout his career, the Buffalo native has done most of his damage in the Mid-Atlantic region but he’s never cashed in a SugarHouse event before tonight.

That all changed today, as MacKinnon recorded another notch in his poker belt, while also claiming his first tournament title since winning a WSOP Circuit ring at Harrah’s Chester in the spring of 2013. It’s been the better part of three years since that last victory and now, back in Philadelphia, MacKinnon has claimed another to jump start the final week of this Poker Night Classic series.

He’ll certainly be a player to watch heading into this weekend’s Poker Night in America Main Event and if he’s able to continue his run, he could be adding a third Philadelphia title to his trophy case by series end. That concludes the PNC blog’s coverage of Event 17 and we’ll be back tomorrow to bring you all the action from Day 1A of Event 22.
