The first quarter of 2017 is nearing an end and the first earnings report of the year is almost at the deadline. It won’t be long before April hits but a few players have already put themselves in a good position to send a positive report out to shareholders.
Josh Weizer started his year off in grand fashion by making Day 4 of the Winter Poker Open WPT Main Event at Borgata. Weizer finished 31st in a record-breaking field of 1,312 players and earned $15,000 in the process. The Philadelphia native is yet to cash in a SugarHouse event and a trip to the payout cage today would increase his $236,000 in career earnings.
Marc Wagner notched two cashes in the recent Big Stax series at Parx and came close to reaching the final table in the 500 event. Wagner had his aces cracked in a massive pot and settled for 14th but ever the grinder, bagged 141,000 to start Day 2 of the SugarRush over the chip average. There have been a few close calls for Wagner in the last couple of months and today just might be the day he breaks through for his first career win.
Andrew Zhu is coming off of a final table at the recent Borgata DeepStacks Challenge series, where he took home seventh in a final table deal. Zhu mostly sticks to the cash tables but recently crossed the $100,000 mark in career earnings. Zhu started Day 2 of the SugarRush with 124,000 as he looks to turn one bullet into his second SugarHouse final table.
