The SugarRush doesn’t discriminate when it comes to champions. In the year since the first running of this event, players of a wide variety of poker backgrounds have walked out victorious and two of those champions are in action today looking to add an unprecedented second victory to their poker resume.
Roberto Ilagan won the first SugarRush of 2017 and walked away $15,000 richer. Ilagan is in for a Day 2 bullet but with his previous experience of beating this field and structure, should be well equipped with the necessary knowledge needed to make another final table.
If there’s a debate to be had about who is the SugarRush King, John Attanasio would be at the top of the list. Attanasio has three SugarRush scores to his name, including a fourth-place finish and a win in November of last year. Overall, Attanasio has $103,000 in career earnings with the lion’s share of that total coming last month, when he finished second in the Big Stax 500 for a $65,000 score.
