The Philadelphia Poker Classic

Phil Hellmuth, a poker “Grudge Match” and $370,000 in guaranteed prize pools will all be at SugarHouse Casino for the 2017 Philadelphia Poker Classic (PPC).

The series runs from March 1—31 and will be highlighted with the return of the popular television series “Poker Night in America” that will include Phil Hellmuth, poker’s all-time World Series Of Poker (WSOP) gold bracelet leader. “Poker Night” will also feature the highly publicized heads-up Grudge Match between Mike Dentale and Cate Hall.

The event schedule kicks off with the $100,000-Guaranteed SugarRush Challenge on March 1 and features the $200,000-Guaranteed PPC Main Event beginning March 12. The PPC concludes with a series of one-day tournaments that finish March 31.

SugarHouse will introduce “Locals Live,” a $2—$5 no-limit hold’em game that will put local and regional players on-camera. “Poker Night” will capture the action, and all the high-stakes cash games that will feature Hellmuth, the 14-time gold bracelet winner. The cash game sessions will run March 17—20.

Poker Brat to Play in $200,000-Guaranteed PPC Main Event

Phil Hellmuth will play in the $200,000-Guaranteed PPC Main Event where local players will have the chance to bet, raise and bluff the former WSOP Main Event champion. This will be the second time Hellmuth will play at SugarHouse Casino. In 2015, the “Poker Brat,” as Hellmuth is known around the world, finished in 36th place in the casino’s first $100,000-Guaranteed tournament that featured 711 entries.

The main event buy-in is $500 on Day 1 and features seven starting flights beginning March 12. Day 2 and the final table is Sunday, March 19; event details include:

$200,000-Guaranteed PPC Main Event – March 12—19, 2017

  • Day 1 Entry: $500 buy-in for 30,000 in chips
  • Day 1 Starting Flights: 7 (March 12 and 17—18, noon and March 13—16, 2 p.m.)
  • Day 1 Levels: 45 minutes
  • Day 2 Entry: $2,100 for 120,000 in chips (March 19, 1 p.m.)
  • Day 2 Levels: 45 minutes

Grudge Match at SugarHouse Casino

What began as a Twitter war has become a poker event for the entire world to see. Dentale and Hall have agreed to settle their differences on the felt with a heads-up Grudge Match. The best-of-three series will be staged at SugarHouse Casino and be live-streamed on a thirty-minute delay on March 19. The event will be recorded for television by “Poker Night in America” for later viewing in 2017 on the CBS Sports Network.

The tale of the tape:

  • Cate Hall burst onto the poker scene with her first career cash in 2015, and since then has earned three World Poker Tour (WPT) main event final tables. She also has $871,000 in total live earnings, including seven WSOP cashes.
  • Mike Dentale has won four tournaments to go along with 10 WSOP cashes. He has won $1.4 million in total live earnings.

“Locals Live” Cash Game Joins “Poker Night

SugarHouse Casino is introducing a new cash game format to join the “Poker Night in America” schedule. “Locals Live” is giving local and regional players the chance to compete on-camera in a $2—$5 no-limit hold’em game. The local sessions will be March 20, with registration for a chance to play beginning earlier in the month.

“Poker Night’s” high-stakes cash games will be the lead-up to “Locals Live” with Hellmuth headlining the list of competing pros. He will compete against Dentale and Hall, as well as others including:

  • Olivier Busquet is a WPT title holder with 21 WSOP cashes and more than $7 million in total live earnings.
  • Shaun Deeb is a two-time WSOP gold bracelet holder and a four-time winner of the World Championship of Online Poker.
  • Doug Polk is a two-time WSOP gold bracelet holder with more than $5 million in total live earnings:
  • Matt Glantz has earned more than $6 million in career winnings and six major tournament titles. Glantz is also a poker advisor to Rush Street Gaming, SugarHouse Casino’s parent company.

The Poker Night sessions will begin at 3 p.m. on March 17—19 and at 5 p.m. on March 20 and are open to spectators. All guests must be 21 years of age or older.

  • $5,000-Guaranteed Seniors Event – March 13—14, 2017
    • Day 1: $265 buy-in for 25,000 in chips – (March 13, 11 a.m.)
