In its short history, The SugarRush has seen players of all stacks and sizes emerge from the Day 2 herd to claim victory. All though it is literally anyone’s game at this stage in the tournament, having a large stack to start the day is advantageous as three players can attest to. This trio all started the day near or above the 200,000 mark with first place set within their sights.
The majority of Kawan Rex’s $27,000 in tournament earnings have come in Survivor events but the SugarRush structure seems to be suiting Rex just fine. Rex started the day with 218,000 and has a golden opportunity in front of him to earn the largest tournament score of his career.
Sitting a few notches above Rex on the Day 2 totem pole is Paul Zurgchka, who started the day with 243,500. The first of Zurgchka’s recorded tournament results came in September of 2016 and he has already collected $11,000 in earnings. Zurgchka took down a Parx event a few months ago and has title number two within his reach.
Making the trip across the state to play in The SugarRush is Pittsburgh’s Brian Patterson. Patterson does most of his damage at SugarHouse’s sister casino, Rivers, but has tournament results in a few different states. Patterson is already over the 200,000 mark and is ready to get his 2017 off to a great start.
