There is never a bad time to pick up aces as Joseph Tapilo can attest to. Tapilo used “The Blades” to chop down Todd Tieger and move up the leaderboard.

The current level is keeping the folks at the payout cage plenty busy as a steady stream of casualties have made the walk after meeting their end. Joseph Tapilo is responsible for one of those bounties as he found aces at an opportune moment to send an opponent to the rail.

Maksim Sevebrinkskiy opened for 17,000 from early position and Tapilo popped it to 46,000 from the small blind. Out of the big blind, Todd Tieger jammed for about 100,000, leaving Sevebrinkskiy to let his hand go. Tapilo called as soon as action was back to him as he turned over A♣A leaving Tieger’s AK♣ on the verge of a trip to the parking garage.

The flop left Tieger drawing dead and Tapilo stacked the winning chips to move over 650,000. Tapilo is near the current chip leaders and a considerable threat to advance to tonight’s final table.
