John Attanasio won the last running of the SugarRush Challenge and is still in contention as he pursues another trip to the winner’s circle.

John Attanasio closed out the SugarRush Challenges of 2016 with his first career outright tournament victory. Attanasio came into Day 2 of today’s event with only 50,000 in front of him but has since entered the spin cycle and is on the comeback trail to go back-to-back. Following a recent pot, Attanasio climbed toward the chip average as he looks for his third SugarRush final table to go along with his fourth place finish in June.

The cutoff opened for 20,000 and Carol Schulte called out of the small blind, leaving Attanasio to defend his big blind. Schulte checked the J5♣4 flop and Attanasio bet 50,000. Both of his opponents let their hands go and Attanasio took in the pot. Considering the wealth of experience Attanasio has in the SugarRush structure, another final table is in the realm of possibilities.
