4th Place: Chris Caruso ($7,322)

The swings at this final table were monumental and it seemed no one was immune to them. Chris Caruso cruised near the top of the counts for most of the final table but fell in fourth over the course of massive confrontations with John Attanasio and Bob Capanna.

Attanasio drew first blood against Caruso in a pot that pushed Attanasio back over 5,000,000. Caruso opened for 225,000 from the small blind and Attanasio called to see a A8♠3♠ flop. Caruso conceded the betting lead and Attanasio bet 200,000. Caruso called and the J♣ fell on the turn. Once more, Caruso checked and Attanasio bet 425,000.

A moment passed and Caruso called to see the 9 river. Caruso checked for a third time and Attanasio went for 925,000 this time, leaving himself with about 800,000 behind. Following some time in the tank, Caruso called and Attanasio showed A8♣ for a flopped two pair. Caruso flashed the A♠ and dropped to under 2,000,000.

Capanna drew the last of Caruso’s chips in a cooler for the former chip leader. Attanasio, Caruso and Capanna all saw a 99♣4 flop with action checking to Attanasio, who bet 350,000. Capanna called and Caruso announced himself “all-in” for about 1,600,000. Attanasio folded and Capanna didn’t hesitate to call with A9. Caruso was drawing to a miracle with 9♠7♠ and saw only bricks on the turn and river.

Capanna moves up to his peak for the final table of 4,100,000 as Caruso heads to the payout cage to collect his fourth place prize.
