Jonathan Gonzalez called correctly against Dhaval Joshi and is over 500,000 after starting the day with 102,500.

We are creeping toward the point in the tournament where the first player to cross the 1,000,000 chip mark is soon to emerge. In order to reach that magical denomination, plenty of things need to go right, especially calling correctly in tough spots. Jonathan Gonzalez did just that against Dhaval Joshi and is up to 550,000 as a result.

Picking up the action on a 9♣6♣3♠ board, Joshi bet 35,000 into a pot of about 55,000 from the cutoff and Gonzalez called from the button. The Q♠ hit the turn and both players checked to the 8 river. Joshi fired 50,000 and Gonzalez hit the tank to consider his options. Approximately two minutes passed and Gonzalez found a call.

Joshi sheepishly turned over K♣10 while Gonzalez showed A6 for the second-lowest pair on board. With the pot, Gonzalez is up to 550,000 and could soon be joining the Millionaires Club if he continues to make correct calls like that one.
