Rocco Smith (Philadelphia, PA)

Rocco Smith was the short stack coming into final table play and despite climbing one rung on the pay ladder, was not able move up any further.

From early position, Smith raised to 500,000 and Ben Kritzer moved all-in for about 800,000 total from late position. Smith called all-in for less and saw the trouble he was in when Kritzer turned over KK that had Smith’s 77♠ in serious peril.

The hand was effectively over once the flop ran out K♣9♠5♠ to give Kritzer a set of kings. Smith wasn’t able to add to his backdoor outs on the turn and will take home $2,806 after buying in at the start of Day 2.

Kritzer has been up and down for a lot of Day 2 but is now at his peak for the SugarRush Challenge with 1,850,000.
