Joe Simmons (Philadelphia, PA)

Joe Simmons played a solid game all day to make it to the final table but could never find that one hand to put him over the top. Simmons was forced into push/fold mode and ran into a semi-cooler against Ben Kritzer to be eliminated.

Kevin Grabel opened to 200,000 from the cutoff and Simmons three-bet all-in for about 1,600,000. Kritzer re-shoved from the small blind for slightly less than Simmons’ total and Grabel got out of the way.

Simmons would see the trouble he was in when he saw Kritzer roll over K♣K♠. Simmons could only muster KQ and would need a lot of help to survive. The J♣72 flop gave Simmons some backdoor hope that increased on the J turn.

Simmons was drawing live to hearts but the 2♣ was not what he was looking for. Kritzer moved to over 3,600,000 with the double and Simmons hit the rail a few hands later after being crippled.
