Yufen Chen is nearing 1,000,000 in the early stages of Level 19 and has quietly entered the top-tier of the chip leaderboard.

With over 17,000,000 chips in play, it was only a matter of time before the Millionaires Club started to gain a few members and that is the case here in Level 18. Aaron Mermelstein was the first to reach that point, but a few others have joined him in the early going of the new level.

One player who is nearing that point after quietly chipping up for most of the day is Yufen Chen. Chen started the day with 253,000 and has gone nowhere but up so far today. In a recent hand against Duy Nguyen, Chen put Nguyen to the test on the river and increased his stack as a result.

Picking up the action on a Q♠10♠2♠A board, Nguyen bet 35,000 from the big blind into a pot of about 60,000. Chen called from early position and the A♣ hit the river. Once again, Nguyen bet, this time for 62,000. Chen took matters into his own hands and raised the action to 225,000. With about 500,000 behind, Chen had a few options at his disposal, but elected to fold, giving Chen the pot.

Chen is now up to 870,000 and starting to become a force in this event. With Aaron Mermelstein currently seated at his table, Chen may soon be forced to engage with the biggest stack in the room. A full look at the tournament chip leaders is below.

Aaron Mermelstein – 1,210,000
Charles Bailey – 1,060,000
Greg Fishberg – 1,025,000
Kevin Grabel – 960,000
Greg Maynard – 925,000
Yufen Chen – 870,000
Prateek Chandra – 790,000
