After a few hands dealt in the hand-for-hand period, the SugarRush Challenge field is officially in the money. The man they can thank for that is Prateek Chandra, who eliminated Guoliang Chen to burst the money bubble. The chase for first place is now in full gear with all players secured a minimum of a $428 payday and a few players guaranteed their third consecutive cash in this event.
Prateek Chandra is now over the 530,000 mark after hs elimination of Guoliang Chen. Chandra was under 100,000 to start Day 2 but has rectified that figure in short order. Chandra has notched a few smaller cashes on the East Coast but is in search of his tournament breakthrough which could come today.
In the first two runnings of the SugarRush Challenge, Jerry Johnson has found his way to podium both times. Johnson took third in April and then placed second as part of the seven-way deal in June. Johnson is currently short-stacked but his experience in this event should serve him well down the stretch.
Alex Bereshny final tabled the inaugural SugarRush Challenge, taking home ninth place. Bereshny followed that run up with a 16th place finish in the second running of this event. After coming close a few times before, Bereshny is looking to take that next step here today.
