SugarRush (Day 2): Early Risers Going For More Than Just Chips

Level 14 (2,000/4,000/500)
Total SugarRush Challenge Entries: 621
Players Remaining: 113
Chip Average: 137,500

One full level is already in the books on Day 2 and a few players have moved themselves up the chip leader early on in anticipation of a deep run into this Sunday.

Ragahavendra Dronavalli started today second in chips and is about 80,000 over the 286,500 he started the day with. Dronavalli cashed in June’s SugarRush and is looking to best his 22nd place finish from the last time around and add to his over $11,000 in career tournament earnings.

Kimberly Mercer came into Day 2 with 155,000 and is now playing double that amount in the early going. Mercer works as a dealer but makes her trips to the other side of the felt count. Mercer final tabled the SugarHouse “$100K Showdown” in April 2015, finishing seventh for a $7,700 score. If Mercer continues to build as she has so far, another final table may be in her immediate future.

Malik Saunders is nearing the $50,000 mark in career earnings and could surpass that checkpoint with a deep run today. Saunders is playing around 290,000 and is well aware of what it takes to make it to the winner’s circle, having won a Borgata event in January 2015 for $16,000.
