Aaron Mermelstein turned a set against Vivik Behera and got max value to double and move into the chip lead in the SugarRush Challenge.

We mentioned earlier that an Aaron Mermelstein with a lot of chips in front of him would be dangerous for the rest of the field and that is starting to come to fruition as Mermelstein just took down a massive pot to become the new chip leader.

From early position, Mermelstein opened to 16,000 and was three-bet on his direct left by Vivik Behera to 45,000. Mermelstein called the raise and the two players saw a Q7♠6♠ flop. Mermelstein checked and Behera bet what looked to be 45,000 with Mermelstein calling behind.

The turn was the J and Mermelstein checked his option once again. Behera bet 165,000 and after some time spent contemplating his next move, Mermelstein check-raised all-in for 368,000 total. Behera was flummoxed by the raise but called to put Mermelstein at risk.

Behera rolled over K♣K♠ but saw the bad news when Mermelstein flipped up JJ♠ for a turned set. The A river was a blank, and Mermelstein shipped the pot to move up to 890,000. With the hit, Behera dropped sown to 200,000. Mermelstein is now the chip leader by about 150,000 and will look to chip up even more as the field wears down.
